Blue Ridge Hospice


Blue Ridge Hospice is a not-for-profit health care organization founded in 1981, providing physical, emotional, social and spiritual care for terminally ill patients and their families in the City of Winchester and the counties of Frederick, Clarke, Warren, Shenandoah, Page, Rappahannock, Fauquier, and Loudoun. Blue Ridge Hospice is regarded as an integral part of the health services system in the northern Shenandoah Valley and surrounding areas. Its mission is to make quality end-of-life care available to individuals and families facing serious illness and to support anyone in its service communities affected by death, dying, and loss. Blue Ridge Hospice takes care of patients in the home and at its eight-bed residential center in downtown Winchester. It offers grief and loss support services, counseling for all ages, spiritual support, music and pet therapies, and ongoing workshops and educational programs. A summer camp for children is annually held at no charge. Blue Ridge Hospice, a 501(c)3 organization, is licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia, accredited by the JCAHO, and a member of the National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization. It is a certified Medicare/Medicaid provider. Services are available regardless of age, race, sex, religion, ethnic origin, physical or mental handicap, diagnosis, prior modality of treatment, or ability to pay.
